Your Driveway Is the First Thing People See
A cracked, stained, or uneven driveway doesn't just look bad—it can damage your vehicles, create tripping hazards, and hurt your home's value. A properly installed concrete driveway solves all of these problems while giving your home the curb appeal it deserves.
At Granite Peak Concrete, we don't just pour driveways—we engineer them for Colorado's unique challenges: 50+ freeze-thaw cycles per year, expansive clay soils, and intense UV exposure. The result is a driveway that looks great and lasts for decades.
Concrete vs. Asphalt: The Colorado Choice
Many Colorado homeowners ask about asphalt driveways. Here's why we recommend concrete for our climate:
Lasts 2-3x Longer
Concrete driveways last 30-40 years vs. 15-20 for asphalt. In Colorado's harsh climate, that difference is even more pronounced.
Handles Heat Better
Asphalt softens in summer heat, leading to ruts and deformation. Concrete stays rigid regardless of temperature.
Lower Lifetime Cost
While concrete costs more upfront, the lack of required maintenance (no resealing) and longer lifespan make it more economical over time.
More Design Options
Stamping, coloring, exposed aggregate—concrete offers design flexibility that asphalt simply can't match.
How We Build Your Driveway
Quality driveways start with proper preparation. Here's what to expect.
Site Evaluation & Planning
We assess your property's drainage, soil conditions, and access requirements. You'll get a detailed proposal with exact pricing—no surprises.
Removal & Excavation
If you have an existing driveway, we remove it completely. We then excavate to the proper depth and ensure correct grading for drainage.
Base Preparation
We install and compact a proper gravel base—this is critical for preventing cracking. We don't cut corners here, even though you'll never see it.
Forming & Reinforcement
Forms are set to the exact dimensions and slope. Rebar or wire mesh reinforcement is installed for added strength and crack prevention.
Pour & Finish
We pour high-strength concrete, apply your chosen finish, and cut control joints. Proper curing begins immediately with curing compound application.
Curing & Handoff
We provide detailed care instructions and timeline for use. Driveways can handle foot traffic in 24-48 hours and vehicles after a minimum of 7 days, ideally 14 days.
